Term 2 is the term for the District and Regional Cross Country, Cluster Day 3 and the Inaugural Somerset Cup between Kilcoy, Lowood and Toogoolawah State High Schools.

After the extreme weather event of Cyclone Debbie, we had to postpone our School Cross Country to the first week back.  Congratulations to all students for their great performances while competing or being officials on the course.

Congratulations also to our Age Champions.

The event saw Coleman take out the Overall House Trophy with a total 592 points compared to Somerset’s 567.  Coleman won the Senior House Trophy 321 points to 198, and Somerset won the Junior House Trophy 369 points to 271.

Students eligible to represent the School at the District Carnival competed on April 28 at the Toogoolawah Golf Course. Our 12 year old students have already competed at the Lowood District Cross Country held at the Toogoolawah Golf Course on 21 April. Well done to those students on their fantastic effort.

A big thank you to all students and staff who helped to run the cross country, without your help the day would not have been such a success.

Cluster Day 3 is on the 16 May, We remind students to keep an ear out on notices for information about this day. Sports offered are soccer and basketball and is open to the age group 15 years and under. There are also opportunities for our 12 year old students to trial for sports such as tennis, touch football and softball. Any information about this will be in notices and students can come to K Block to find out any more information.

Another exciting event for this term is the Inaugural Somerset Cup. This competition is kindly supported by the Somerset Regional Council and the three High Schools in the region, Kilcoy, Lowood and Toogoolawah will be competing against each other in soccer, netball and touch football. Students are urged to place their names down in a sport they are interested in to be part of the day. This event will be held at Toogoolawah on Friday 2 June. Training will start soon so be sure to get out there, get involved and have a go.

Outside of school we have had some students compete at the State Athletics Championship. A bronze medal was won for U14 High Jump and a silver medal was won for U16 Long Jump, achieving a new PB of 6.20m. Well done!

As you can see, Term 2 will be busy and we wish all students the all the best in the events they are involved in.
